Welcome to my personal page

I am Professor of Security Studies at SUISS, Strategic Studies Department, University of Turin. After my Ph.D. in Strategic Studies, I have been DAAD Research Fellow at Freie University (Berlin), Research Fellow at College of Europe (Warsaw) and at Università del Piemonte Orientale (Vercelli). I have taught at SUISS International Relations (MA) and Security Studies (MA).

I am an articulate researcher in the area of security/strategic studies focused on MENA region (mainly on Iraq, Syria, Libya), with a track record of publications and collaborations that demonstrates knowledge spanning across all areas of own subject area.

My research focuses on irregular warfare both from both a theoretical and empirical point of view aiming to highlight the evolution of non-state armed violence from 19th century to today jihadist strategic thinking and illustrate the phenomenon of the conflicts in the Mediterranean region and their collusion with insurgency, urban environments and terrorism.

Capable lecturer with the ability to design engaging lecture plans, develop and manage curriculum activities. I have also analysis skills, and a tested multidisciplinary research methodology, that enables me to recommend conflict management solutions.

This is my web site where it is possibile to find my research, teaching and also my Blog where I share reading tips, book reviews, brief research ideas on war, warfare, terrorism and international politics.
